Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority organizes one day workshop on Food Management Systems

Karachi, June 02, 2016 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) organized third session of one day workshop on Food Management Systems-ISO 22000:2005 on Thursday, 2nd June at Pakistan institute of Training for Standardization (PITS), Head office PSQCA, Karachi aimed capacity building on ISO 22000:2005 to gain a better understanding and clarification on overview of its principles, processes and techniques used for the assessment and management of food safety hazards and Awareness on Food safety as a global challenge has been created and also the Role of National Standard Body, PSQCA in harmonization of standards has been shared.

The consequences of unsafe food can be serious and ISO’s food safety management standards help organization identify and control food safety hazards. As many of today’s food products repeatedly cross national boundaries, food safety management standards are needed to ensure the safety of the global food supply chains. ISO 2200 is Food Safety Management System.

A renowned companies of Food Industries and people from Academia and quality assurance participated (30-35) in this workshop, including Shezan International Limited, Shangrila (Private) Limited, Engro Foods Limited, National Foods Limited, Youngs Private Limited, Merit Packaging Limited, Technical experts from Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), Eminent Professors from Karachi University and Dow University of Health Sciences, Sr. Scientists from PSQCA.

Moreover, the participants were from amongst who had taste of understanding the ISO 22000:2005 and also absorption capacity to understand and raise questions during interactive discussions in the workshop. Director International Affairs and Trainings, PSQCA in his welcome remarks highlighted the importance in trainings in need based areas and role of PSQCA in standards. The workshop proceeded with eminent speakers who were given their presentations. Mufti Naeem Shahid, Chief Executive Halaal Foundation Pakistan also presented his views on the topic.
