Pakistan Science Foundation to bridge gap among researchers and farmers: Dr. Muhammad Ashraf

Islamabad, April 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) was the Chief Guest at a Workshop/Field Day on Integrated Nutrient Management of Plum and Off-Season Vegetables, organized by the Nuclear Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) Peshawar on April 8, 2015. Mr. Haider Zaman Khattak, Secretary, PSF was also present on this occasion.

NIFA organized this program under PSF funded project “Nutrient Management of Deciduous Orchards (Plum) through Foliar Feeding” for transferring knowledge to the farmers/end-users. About 150 persons including researchers, students and farmers participated in it.

Speaking to the gathering, Dr. Ashraf said that PSF is identifying priority areas keeping in view the needs of the society. He said that the Foundation is striving to bridge gap among farmers and researchers for elevating financial status of farmers through different programs.

He called upon the farmers to make best use of the farm research and farm techniques. Talking about PSF funded projects, the Chairman deciphered three success stories. He said the mushroom cultivation project at NIFA has started producing results and the yield is being marketed.
