Pakistan Romania holds bilateral talks

Islamabad, March 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): The sixth round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Romania was held in Bucharest on 25 March 2013. The Pakistan side was represented by Ms Ayesha Riyaz, Additional Secretary (Europe), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Rab Nawaz Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to Romania while the Romanian delegation was headed by Ms. Carmen Liliana Burlacu, Director General Asia Pacific, Latin America and Special Representative for UN and Global Governance.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations including cooperation in the political, economic, defence, cultural and educational spheres. The talks focused on exploring possibilities to further deepen bilateral engagement in trade, commerce, investment, hydel power and agro-based industry. Views on regional and global issues of mutual concern and the existing cooperation at multilateral fora were also exchanged.

Ms Riyaz also called on Mr. Cristian David, Minister Delegate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides agreed on the need for more frequent exchange of visits at the political level.

The next round of consultations would be held in Islamabad in 2014.
