Pakistan People’s Party rejected Cyber Crime Bill in its existing form: Dr. Sikandar Shoro

Karachi, November 03, 2016 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Information, Science and Technology Dr. Sikandar Shoro has said that we were facing biggest challenge of cyber crime in modern era. It is the need of the time that all stake holders should work together on this sensitive issue adding that Pakistan People’s Party had submitted 54 amendments in cyber crime bill introduced by treasury benches in National Assembly to make it more integrated, comprehensive and effective however government overruled PPP amendments and passed it.

He further said that PPP has rejected Cyber Crime Bill passed by treasury benches. This he said while addressing as chief guest at a symposium organized by Department of Computer Science University of Karachi and IEEE Karachi section jointly on the topic of Recent Trends in Computer Science here today at Karachi University Auditorium.

He said PPP provincial government was also working at its level best to control the curse of cyber crime in Sindh as early as possible. Information Science and Technology Department is in the process to formulate effective IT policy and IT Board to address the issue related to Information Technology. IT Department has sought the recommendation of different stakeholder including Universities for IT Policy.

Dr. Sikandar Shoro has said that IT department also working on several projects in collaboration with different universities to promote the research. He invited Karachi University to come up with the proposal, so that effective and strong interaction is created which will be helpful for new generation. Dr. Sikandar Shoro said that IT department has paid special attention to the projects related to health and education sector.

Earlier, Senior Professor Dr. Badar Saleem welcomed the participants of the symposium, while Senior Professor Dr. Syed Aqil Barni briefed about their research experiences in the field of information Technology. At the conclusion, souvenir was presented to the chief guest Dr. Sikandar Shoro and others.
