Islamabad, February 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): Pakistan today observed Kashmir Day to express solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir. Kashmir Day is observed annually in Pakistan to remind the international community about its commitments regarding Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
Pakistan President, Mamnoon Hussain, and Prime Minister, Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, have urged the international community to fulfil its promise to the Kashmiris of granting them their right to self-determination through a free and fair plebiscite, as only a just solution can bring lasting peace in the area. Various programmes including rallies, seminars and processions were held by the political and religious parties to highlight the importance of the Solidarity Day.
A mammoth rally led by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Amir, Siraj-ul-Haq was held in Muzaffarabad. Addressing the rally, Siraj-ul-Haq said that the 180 million people of Pakistan had sent a clear message to the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, that India could no longer deprive the people of Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination.
Meanwhile, Hurriyet leaders including Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, Syed Yousuf Naseem and Rafiq Ahmad Dar held meeting with Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, and AJK Prime Minister, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, in Muzaffarabad.
Seminars and walks were held in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, Peshawar and other cities of Pakistan. Hurriyet leaders, Abdul Majeed Malik, Tahir Masood, Engineer Mehmood and Muzaffar Hussain Shah addressed Solidarity Day rallies in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore and Peshawar.
