Karachi, March 27, 2015 (PPI-OT): A PIA Training Centre was inaugurated in Peshawar today by Capt. Shujaat Azeem, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Aviation. PIA Training Centres have been established in Pakistan’s major cities and are offering two years Aerospace-B1 and Avionics-B2 training leading to Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Certification in 4 years.
PIA has already opened Training Centres in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Nawabshah, Swat and now Peshawar, while more such Centres are planned for other cities such as Quetta, Multan, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad, Sukkur and Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, Capt. Shujaat Azeem said that in line with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, PIA Training Centres were being opened in major cities of Pakistan to impart training to the youth in the field of Aerospace and Avionics at a very nominal cost (one tenth of such training abroad).
He said that on completion of the training, students would be able to get jobs in the aviation sector not only in Pakistan but abroad as well. Capt. Shujaat Azeem said that he was pleased to see expansion of the PIA Training Centres in the country. According to PIA spokesman Hanif Rana, PIA Training Centres have PCAA – 147 approval for “Engineering and Maintenance” training. This is a historic first for Pakistan as no other institute in the country offers such certification.
The PIA Training Centres are ISO 9001:2008 certified and are approved by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. They also have the status of being IATA Authorized Training Centres for the region. Capt. Shujaat Azeem said the PIA Training Centres are well-respected in the aviation training sector worldwide. He said that for the last four decades, PIA has been imparting training in all aviation disciplines such as Flight Operations, Engineering and Maintenance, Flight Services, Customer Services and Airline Marketing.
He said PIA was providing advanced training in aviation disciplines at an affordable price which is about 10 times less than the price for similar training abroad because this is a part of PIA’s Corporate Social Responsibility. He said he hoped that Pakistan’s youth would fully benefit from the golden opportunity to obtain skilled training in aviation disciplines and prove that they are the best human resource in the global aviation industry. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior PIA officials.
