Pakistan International Airlines resumes flights in Swat after Five Years

Peshawar, October 11, 2012 (PPI-OT): PIA flights resumed after a break of five years with the arrival of ATRS Flight at Saidu Sharif airport Kanju on Wednesday morning with PIA Managing Director Junaid Younas and officers of PIA, Civil Aviation and Ministry of Defense on board. The guests were welcomed at the airport by Additional Commissioner, Malakand Ameen ul Haq, Brig: Qadeer of Pak Army and other officers and were offered with floral bouquets and garlanded.

Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director PIA disclosed that normal flights would resume from October 28 which will contain two flights a week from Islamabad and Peshawar.

Later, destinations may be increased keeping in view viability of the flights. The Managing Director showed his pleasure on the establishment of durable peace in the valley.

Speaking on the occasion, Addtl Commissioner Malakand said that there was a vast opportunity of trade, tourism and development in Malakand Division especially in District Swat. He hoped that the PIA flights will prove a pleasant wave of fresh air in the valley and will endure for ever, resulting in the happiness and prosperity of the citizens of the area and the country at large.
