Pakistan International Airlines aircraft declared unserviceable

Karachi, July 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): Flight, PK 749 and PK 750 of 13 July, 2012 operated with B 777 aircraft on the following route Islamabad-Milan-Paris-Islamabad.

The aircraft arrived at Milan at 1743 hours and was parked on Bay number 505. Normal ground handling was in progress. The handling included baggage/cargo loading/offloading, catering, fueling and cleaning. Unfortunately, while offloading of baggage, the ground handling staff (Local ground handling staff) lost control of the lower lobe loader (FMC), which hit the aircraft near the forward hold. Immediately, maintenance was called to examine the damage and the aircraft was declared unserviceable.

Transit passengers for Islamabad-Paris were shifted to the hotel.

Local PIA officials at Milan have arranged transportation of Passengers from Milan to Paris on different carriers.

Joining passengers Milan-Islamabad will be accommodated on next PIA flight, Oslo-Milan-Islamabad.

Passengers travelling from Paris to Islamabad were of local destination and have been re-booked on the next PIA flight. Eight (08) passengers were provided hotel because they had come from out of city to join the flight. Seven (07) passengers who were willing and were in an urgent need to travel were endorsed on other carriers for Paris-Islamabad.

A team PIA engineers have reached Milan to repair the aircraft.–
