Lahore, July 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Industrial and Trader Associations Front (PIAF) has urged the government to ensure completion of Pak-Iran gas pipeline project within the give timeframe as it would not only mark a new chapter in the history of Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations but would also help to bring dream of industrial revolution into true.
In a statement issued here Monday, Chairman PIAF Malik Tahir Javed said that completion of this project before 2014 would greatly help in overcoming energy problems being witnessed by the country and improve energy supply to the manufacturing and industrial sectors which would ultimately make our industrial units more competitive in the international market.
He said that sever energy crisis has shattered the industrial structure, thousands industrial units have been desolated and millions industrial workers jobless.
Chairman PIAF said that after completion of Pak-Iran gas pipeline project would ensure supply of about 750 million cubic feet gas per day that would bridge the energy gap touching 6000 MW and would also save huge foreign exchange being spent on import of furnace oil for power generation.
Malik Tahir Javed said that early completion of this very important mega project would be a great favour to the nation in general and business community in particular as energy was a basic raw material of the industrial sector. He said that this project would also provide gas to the power producing units which would definitely improve the competitiveness of export-oriented industries.
He said that Iran and Pakistan are two Muslim countries which have historic brotherly and geographical relations with common faith, which would be strengthened with the passage of time. He said that both the countries have huge trade and investment potential as well as capacity to launch joint ventures in the areas of common interest.
PIAF Chairman said that Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is an important step forward and its successful operation would inspire the leadership of South Asia to implement further projects.
He urged the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to avoid any sort of pressure to this regard and ensure early completion of this mega projects having utmost importance.
