Srinagar, August 14, 2016 (PPI-OT):On Pakistan’s Independence Day, today, the country’s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit has said that Islamabad dedicates this year’s Independence Day to Kashmir’s freedom.
Abdul Basit while addressing celebrations to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day in Delhi, today, said, “Pakistan has always made efforts to improve its relationship with India” and added, “Is saal ki Jashn‑e‑Azadi hum Kashmir ki Azadi ke naam karte hain (We dedicate this year’s Independence Day to Kashmir’s freedom.”
“The sacrifice of people in Jammu and Kashmir will not go in vain and the struggle in Kashmir will continue till the people get freedom,” he added.
Basit said that no matter how much force is used, the political aspiration of people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be suppressed, and that the freedom movement will reach its logical conclusion.
Kashmir has been wracked with protests against the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani last month. The death toll in the ongoing uprising went up to 73 on Saturday.
