Pakistan High Commission London celebrates Pakistan Day

London, March 23, 2015 (PPI-OT): To celebrate the 75th National Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan High Commission London today. H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK, hoisted the national flag and the National Anthem was played. The messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read out.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in their messages urged all citizens of Pakistan including overseas Pakistanis to renew their resolve to bring the country to the forefront of the comity of nations. They said that Pakistanis have irrevocably stood up to the challenge of terrorism and extremism and have resolved never to give in. Both the leaders paid fulsome tribute to the heroic struggle of the Muslims of the Sub-continent for achieving an independent homeland under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The President and the Prime Minister expressed their resolve to preserve the hard earned freedom at any cost. In this context, they expressed confidence that our valiant armed forces, supported by the entire array of political opinion would surely eliminate the forces of darkness.

In his address, the High Commissioner said that Pakistan came into existence as a result of formidable struggle of the Muslims of the sub-continent under the epoch making leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He emphasized upon adhering to the principles of the Quaid-i-Azam: Unity, Faith and Discipline, to take Pakistan forward on the path of progress and prosperity.

The High Commissioner paid rich tribute to the sacrifices made by the people and the armed forces of Pakistan in fight against terrorism. He said that it was a matter of great satisfaction that the entire nation firmly stood together to fight the menace of terrorism and extremism. The High Commissioner hoped that the people of Pakistan would soon witness peace and prosperity returning to the country. He also commended the role of the diaspora in progress and development of Pakistan.

The High Commissioner, his spouse and other ladies cut the cake to celebrate the National Day. Ustad Roshan Hasan Khan presented popular national songs on this occasion. A large number of people representing the cross section of Pakistani community and media representatives attended the ceremony. Similar events were held at other four Consulates of Pakistan in Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester and Glasgow.
