Pakistan desires to strengthen its economic and trade relations with the United Arab Emirates

Islamabad: “Pakistan desires to strengthen its economic and trade relations with the UAE, and “Magnificent 7 UAE Expo-2011” is an ideal platform in this context. This was stated by Ambassador of Pakistan in UAE Mr. Jamil Ahmed Khan while talking to reporters along with Mohamed Nasser Al Zaabi, Director of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Foreign Trade, UAE at the sidelines of SIAL Middle East Food Fair, here in Abu Dhabi.

The Ministry for Foreign Trade, UAE is organizing the first ever Exhibition “Magnificent 7” at Karachi Expo Center from Nov 30 to Dec 2, 2011 in coordination with the Consulate General of UAE in Karachi. The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is extending its full support in holding of first ever one country UAE’s “Magnificent 7” Expo in Pakistan.

The Ambassador said that this Expo, which is coinciding with the 40th Independence Day of UAE is a clear manifestation of the closeness between the two countries. He lauded the visionary leadership of the two countries and said that the time-honoured relations are based on the strong pillars of joint trading and collaborative understanding and the foundation of these exemplary relations was laid by the founder of modern UAE, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The Ambassador said that it has been an integral part of the UAE leadership’s vision to support Pakistan not only during the times of crises but also work towards maintaining Pakistan’s comprehensive security, stability, economic progress and prosperity.

He said that these close fraternal relations between the two countries are blessed with deep-rooted cultural affinities, shared faith, as well as traditional and geographical proximity and identity.

He said that the Magnificent 7 UAE Expo 2011 will not only depict the glimpses of advancement taken place in the seven Emirates but also provide an opportunity to Pakistani businessmen to interact with the global CEOs of UAE companies and discuss possibilities of joint ventures.

He said that this event will open doors for the UAE businessmen in Pakistan and also open doors for Pakistani businessmen in UAE that will definitely provide huge investment opportunities for the companies of both countries.

He said that government will provide maximum support to the UAE businessmen in setting joint ventures in all sectors. He said that the UAE is regarded as a market offering immense opportunities for Pakistani exporters, which can be availed through positioning their products by value addition and right packaging.

Mr. Mohammed Nasser Hamdan Al Zaabi, Director of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Foreign Trade, UAE while speaking to reporters said that over the past few months business and government delegations from the two countries have exchanged visits to open up new commercial and investment opportunities and expand the scope of bilateral trade.

He said that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries is increasing steadily, reflecting future growth opportunities and underlining the importance of maintaining strong channels of communication between the countries’ investors.

He said that over 50 public sector and other companies are participating at the show with full force and the main objective of this show is to seek Pakistani investments into upcoming business opportunities in the UAE, where new industrial zones are offering exciting business opportunities.

He said that the UAE’s industrialists and investors are keen to invest there and one day investment conference is part of the exhibition. This will be a beginning of series of events that will boost the trade and investments between the UAE and Pakistan, he added.

He said that the event aims at highlighting the contribution made by UAE multinational companies towards the socio-economic development of Pakistan and the main objective of this exhibition is to further promote business ties between the two countries and to explore additional avenues and opportunities of mutual cooperation and collaborations within potential sectors.

He said that Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade of UAE will inaugurate this great event on 30 November, 2011. He said that Special arrangements also being made for the B2B meetings between the visiting leading UAE Investors/Businessmen and Pakistani entrepreneurs during the exhibition and conference.
