Pakistan Committed to Boost Economy by Protecting Intellectual Property Rights: Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi

Islamabad: Chairman IPO- Pakistan, Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said that World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) symposium and General Assembly sessions held at Geneva, has provided significant occasion, in which Pakistan has achieved encouraging and fruitful results. He said that Pakistan availed this great opportunity to highlight real image of the country in this core sector. Chairman stated this while chairing a meeting in his office here today.

The Director General IPO-Pakistan, Mr. Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta and other high officials of IPO were also present in the meeting.

The Chairman informed that the delegates from 184 Member countries participated in these mega events. Bilateral talks and negotiations with global IP Regimes provides favourable environment to promote cooperation among the member countries.

Pakistan played pro-active role and drew attention on the overall scenario of IP rights in the country. He said that protection of IP Rights is the prerequisite for socio-eco development of any state. Moreover, Pakistan urged on the global community to provide all possible assistance in skill development and technical sectors so that Pakistan may utilize its great potential for the promotion of IP Rights in the country.

Chairman IPO while sharing his views with officials of the IPO about the meetings with delegates of different countries, said that very soon MoU’s will be signed with IP authorities of different countries.

Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said that Pakistan has great potential of investment and investors can be attracted by giving assurance of IP Rights Protection. .

The Director General IPO, Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta also said that negotiations on different issues were remained successive in Geneva and a number of projects would be initiated in near future with collaboration of international community.

In light of panel discussions, Pakistan has elaborated its strong commitment to promote IPR culture and investment friendly environment by making awareness about strict implementation of IP laws in the country, he added.
