Pakistan Commission for United Nations Education Scientific Cultural Organisation working with United Nations Education Scientific Cultural Organisation in promoting technical training in the country: Minister

Islamabad, June 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education, Engr. Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman had a briefing session with Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO (PNCU) here Tuesday. Secretary General of the Commission, Iftikhar Hussain gave an update on cooperation between PNCU and UNESCO on the occasion.

He said that soon PNCU will organise a training workshop with the cooperation of Islamic Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and FBISE in the second week of July 2013. The Secretary General gave a detailed briefing highlighting PNCU’s achievements, cooperation and relation with UNESCO. He said that the Commission is working closely with UNESCO to promote education in the country.

He referred to the recently held Pakistan-UNESCO joint venture in support of girls rights to education at UNESCO headquarter, in Paris on 10 Dec, 2012. Regarding Malala Fund for Girls’ Education, he said it was created with the aim at raising worldwide donations for schooling of girls by 2015. Out of the said amount Pakistan will get a major share for formal and non formal education especially in needy areas of Pakistan.

Pakistan Commission for UNESCO is working closely with UNESCO in promoting technical and vocational training in the country. Three leading departments i.e National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE) Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority Punjab (TEVTA) and National Vocational and Technical Education Commission have established UNESCO education and vocational centres providing technical and vocational education.
