Pakistan Coast Guards seize Heroin worth Rs16.5 crore

Karachi, August 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) made historic seizure of fine quality of Heroin and Opium from General area Gwadar (Balochistan).

PCG officials received credible information from intelligence sources about huge dumping of narcotics in general area Akra Nullah near Coastal Highway (Gwadar). A special mobile patrol was constituted to raid the area.

After exchange of fire, PCG officials recovered 150 kilograms of fine quality of Heroin and 2000 kilograms of Opium dumped at the site. One drug trafficker alongwith a vehicle was also taken into custody. Approximate value of Heroin and Opium in the local market is Rs. 16.5 crore.

This drug consignment of heroin and Opium were to be smuggled to Gulf/European countries. It is worth mentioning that this is the biggest heroin seizure in the history Coast Guards and the achievement of Coast Guards in shape of major narcotics seizure has once again proved the effectiveness and dedicated role of Coast Guards to fight against the menace of Narcotics. Further investigation and legal process is under way by the PCG “Special Investigation Team”.
