Pakistan announces $10, 000 for United Nation Women Fund

Islamabad, November 17, 2012 (PPI-OT): At the UN Development Activities Pledging Conference at the UN Headquarters, Pakistan announced a contribution of US$ 10,000 for UN Women Fund for the year 2012. Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Masood Khan made the announcement, says a press release received here today from New York.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s strong commitment to different development activities of the UN, ambassador Masood Khan said Pakistan has been an ardent supporter of UN Women ever-since the idea was launched in 2007 when Pakistan was the Chair of G-77 and China. “With a well-rounded Strategic Plan, UN Women, under the able leadership of Madame Bachelet, is making significant contributions to the advancement and empowerment of women”, he added.

Reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering support to the UN Women, the ambassador said that as a member of the UN Women Executive Board, Pakistan has had significant role in shaping the strategic plan for this important body

He also informed the member-states that Pakistan like in the past would continue its regular contribution to the different development activities of the UN including UNDP, UNICEF and UNFPA.
