Karachi, September 06, 2016 (PPI-OT):A guard mounting ceremony took place at the Mazar-e-Quaid in which a smartly turned out contingent of Cadets from PAF Academy Risalpur took over guard duties at the mausoleum of father of the nation to commemorate his visit to the PAF Academy Risalpur 69 years ago. Air Vice Marshal Imran Khalid, Air Officer Commanding PAF Academy Risalpur laid floral wreath and offered “Fateha” at the Mazar-e-Quaid. The ceremony was keenly witnessed by common people including a large number of students from various Schools and Colleges who had gathered at the Mazar.
Earlier in the day, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, gave a message to the nation, in which he said, “We owe our heroes an eternal debt of gratitude for what they have done for us. Indeed, they sacrificed their today for our tomorrow. The whole nation salutes them for their supreme sacrifices and stands by their armed forces.
Certainly, no other nation has paid such a heavy price as the people of Pakistan to live with dignity in freedom. I am glad that our ancestral spirit of patriotism and undying passion for sacrifice is still alive and runs in our blood. Our sacrifices and successes in Operation Zarb-e-Azb are a testimony to this fact. Pakistan Air Force, in synergy with sister services, has played a vital role in eliminating the menace of terrorism and restoration of peace in the country.
I hope that on the strength of our national cohesion, we can surmount every challenge; be it wars or natural calamities. I assure you that Pakistan Air Force is fully capable to defend the aerial frontiers of our sacred motherland. On this occasion‚ let us reiterate our commitment to safeguard our independence and integrity. May Allah Almighty give us strength and guide our efforts to defend our country in keeping with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan (Aameen)”.
A ceremony was also held at PAF Base Masroor to celebrate the defence Day of Pakistan-2016. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah was the Chief Guest and Air Vice Marshal Salman Ahsan Bukhari, Air Officer Commanding, Southern Air Command was also present at the occasion. The chief guest inaugurated the proceedings of the day by cutting a ribbon. The special feature of the day was a static display at PAF Base, Masroor. Various PAF aircraft in addition to ground support and other auxiliary equipment were put on display.
Flying display by PAF F-16, JF-17, Mirage and F7 PG aircrafts was also performed which drew the attention and admiration from the visitors present at venue. The day started with special Dua and Quran Khawani for the Shaheeds. The auspicious day was observed with a renewed pledge and determination to make “Fazaia” even stronger and a potent force to face any challenge.
