Islamabad, December 05, 2012 (PPI-OT): Pak-Indian Handicapped Cricket teams visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). Mr.Saeed Ahmed Bhatti, Vice President of ICCI and other senior members of Islamabad Chamber were also present on the occasion. Pak-Indian Handicapped Cricket teams played a T-20 International match to mark World Disabled Day at Marghazar cricket ground.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Mehmood Ahmed Waraich, Senior Vice President ICCI appreciated the performance of Pakistani Handicapped cricket team and said that they are heroes of the whole nation. He also said that this match was a good step towards enhancing mutual relations and it also projected the message that people of India and Pakistan have cordial relations.
He said that Government should provide full support in future as well and give all facilities to players to do more for the country.
Senior Vice President ICCI said that such cricket matches would also help to resolve other conflicts between two countries. He said that the people of Pakistan were proud of these national heroes.
He said that a main objective of these Games was to encourage these players to play positive role in the society. Pak-India Handicapped cricket match has provided great opportunity to show their abilities, as a result they feel themselves the part of the society.
Mr.Munawar Mughal, Former President ICCI said that people with disabilities are very capable in all walks of life but they have been deprived of opportunities. He demanded special privileges and friendly atmosphere in mainstream society for persons with disabilities and assured that ICCI would facilitate to maintain special people friendly environment.
Mr.Ravi Chohan, General Secretary of Indian Handicapped cricket team said that affection and friendliness of Pakistani people towards them was unforgettable. He said that this match has helped to resume sports ties, friendship and harmony between the two countries.
