Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said that the country was passing through the phase of evolution of the democracy and collective wisdom was the need of the hour.
He was addressing a function organized at Governor House. He said the solution of all problems lies in rule of law. Implementation of constitution and laws should be superior to personal interests, he added.
He said in present circumstances all should contribute for the development of the country.
Dr. Ebad said the nation is capable to cope with the prevailing challenges.
Lawyers including members of Sindh High Court Bar and Supreme Court Bar were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, President Supreme Court Bar Association, Yasin Azad and President Sindh High Court Bar Association, Anwer Mansoor Khan and former president Sindh Court Bar Association, Muhammad Aqil also spoke.
Meanwhile, Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said Pakistan is a front-line state in the fight against terror and a substantial amount of the country’s resources and income was being utilized against terror-ism. He said that the amount that could have been spent for development purpose has been diverted to help make the region peaceful.
He was talking to the Japanese envoy and Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto who headed a delegation which called on Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, says a statement issued from the Governor House here on Sunday.
It said that the Governor was of the view that the inter-national community should assist Pakistan in the fight against terror and also contribute towards the efforts aimed at improving the lives of the people of Pakistan.
He said “we are facing a number of challenges which include water, electricity, infrastructure and development”.
Dr. Ebad was of the view that long-term partnership can be extended in such areas. He said private sector can also play important role to-wards the promotion of agriculture sector in the province.
With value-addition in this area in income resources can be expanded, he added.
The Governor said that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) can play an important role for the restructuring the Circular Railway. The Envoy assured the Governor that his efforts would be that the Japanese investors would invest in Pakistan especially in Karachi.
He further said that there are immense opportunities for such investment.
