Lahore, June 06, 2017 (PPI-OT):Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Sun Weidong at the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Islamabad, today. On the occasion, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif termed Pak-China friendship as a glowing example of love, peace, cooperation and warm emotions. He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project will augur well for the economic development of the country. He told that work is being speedily done on CPEC projects; 1320 megawatt Sahiwal Coal Power Project has already been completed in a record period of time; while other projects are being completed on fast track basis.
He welcomed Chinese investment on different CPEC projects and expressed the satisfaction that the volume of investment between Pakistan and China is all-time high. There is no doubt the CPEC is a game changer which has opened new avenues of development in Pakistan, while different countries along with Pakistan and China, will also benefit from the CPEC. There is no other example of speedy and transparent completion of CPEC projects in Pakistan, he added. The Chief Minister maintained that Pakistan is among one of the rapidly emerging economies of the world under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and added that this has created new opportunities of business and job-generation.
He said that Pakistan and China are two countries who enjoy immortal friendship which has passed every test of time. With the passage of time, this friendship has resulted in creating beneficial economic opportunities for the people of both the countries and this has resulted in creating new opportunities of development in various sectors of life. He said that Pakistan-China relations have been further expanded during the tenure of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and CPEC project has given these relations new strength. Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the keen interest of Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan in trade and economic development projects and said that Chinese Ambassador has encouraged investment in Pakistan by promoting mutual cooperation at different levels between the two countries.
He has also encouraged Chinese companies to take benefit of facilities offered by government of Pakistan for investment. Mr. Shehbaz Sharif also briefed the Chinese Ambassador about different facets of the provincial budget 2017-18 and told that funds have been allocated for different projects including early completion of energy projects, promotion of education and healthcare, provision of clean drinking water, development of human resource and acquiring of latest technology.
Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong said that Pakistan-China friendship and bilateral economic cooperation was being promoted continuously. He commended the efforts of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the promotion of Pak-China friendship. He extended his good wishes to the people of Pakistan and appreciated the role of Pakistan government for enhancing trade and economic activities as well as promotion of Pak-China friendship.
