Islamabad, November 27, 2012 (PPI-OT): Secretary Capital Administration and Development (CAD), Ms. Riffat Shaheen Qazi has said that it is the collective responsibility of the entire society to help and look after the needy and poor people.
She said it while inaugurating Free Medical Camp at Punjgran, Islamabad.
“Government alone is not the solution of all issues. We need to work together and united for the noble cause of serving humanity. The poor patients deserve our attention and help. More free medical camps shall be held in future to provide medical assistance to the poor patients”, said Ms. Qazi.
The Rural Community Development Centre Punjgran has arranged the Free General and Eye Camp at Punjgran to provide free eyes check up, optical glasses and cataract operation. Free blood test of Hepatitis B and C and free check ups for seasonal diseases was provided at the camp. A team of qualified and expert doctors from Population Welfare Department provided family planning counseling and treatment.
Mrs.Riffat Shaheen Qazi committed to continue such kind of camps with more improvement in future. She appreciated the Rural Community Development Centre for its efforts and promised the local community for provision of better services from social welfare department of the ministry.
2100 patients visited the camp. Details of the patients are: Free eyes check up and medicines were provided to 435 patients, Free Optical Glasses were given to 260 people, Free cataract operation for 3 patients while Free Blood Scanning (test) of Hepatitis B and C were conducted for 300 poor people. Family Planning OPD catered to 170 while general OPD provided the required medicines to 890 patients.
Senior Joint Secretary CAD Mr. Abdul Latif Laghari, Director General (D.G) Social Welfare Ms. Ghayoor Sultana and other officials of the ministry were present at the camp.
