Lahore: While addressing to the participants of the inaugural course of Model Police Station’s SHOs at Management and Professional Development Department, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Javed Iqbal told that hundred (100) Model Police Stations will start working from 23 March, 2012. He told that in Lahore 20, Sheikhupura 04, Sahiwal 04, Sargodha 05, Bahawalpur 03, D.G Khan 04, Rawalpindi 15, Faisalabad 15, Gujranwala 15 and Multan 15 Model Police Stations will be set up.
Provincial Police Chief told that these police stations will be equipped with latest technology i.e. close circuit TV Cameras, computers, investigation kits, along with the provision of latest mobile phones to the SHOs. Similarly, in these police stations there will be separate reception rooms for the male and female complainants.
He also told that Model Police Stations will have interrogation rooms and information/reception counters. IGP told that SHO of these police stations will be bound to inform the relatives/families in case of any arrest. Issuance of electronic receipts to the complainant and manual card having mentioned the case progress will be helpful in changing of Thana Culture, IGP added.
Javed Iqbal further apprised that monthly grant of Rs. one hundred thousand to big cities SHOs of these Police Stations and Rs. 15 thousand per month allowance proposals have already been furnished before the government. IGP further told that minimum graduate level ASIs and intermediate level Head Constable would be appointed as Moharrare in these Police Stations.
On this occasion, IG said that he expect from the SHOs that they should fulfilled the purposes for setting up these model police stations by delivering their professionalism, performance and dedications. He also hoped that these SHOs can bridge the gap between the public and police and make the department a dignified, credible and graceful institution.
