Office bearers of PPP South Punjab meet President

Islamabad, July 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): A delegation of Office bearers of PPP South Punjab led by Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din, Federal Minister for Textile Industries called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr late Friday night.

The delegation included among others Mr. Haider Zaman Qureshi, Senior Vice President PPP South Punjab, Mr. Shaukat Basra and Khawaja Rizwan Alam.

The participants congratulated the President on the success of a PPP candidate Abdul Qadir Gilani in bye-election in NA 151 Multan and also apprised him about the aspirations of the people of South Punjab about the creation of a new province South Punjab.
The President also felicitated the south Punjab team on the win in NA 151 Bye Election in Multan and appreciated the efforts of all team members and party workers in this regard.

During the meeting Makhdoom Shahab-ud-din gave an overview on the follow up and progress made by the South Punjab Chapter after the President visit to Multan Division in April. The President PPP South Punjab will soon visit Bahawalpur and DG Khan Division and meet local party office bearers and workers.

The President said that making South Punjab a separate province was part of PPP nation building process and the Party will endeavor to honour its commitment made with the people of South Punjab. The creation of a Janoobi Punjab province would help provide the people of South Punjab with the needed openings and opportunities for their socio-economic development.

The President stressed the need to increase mass contact with the people to better understand their problems with a view to resolving them.

The delegation thanked the President for the letter written to Chairman Senate and Speaker National Assembly for creation of National Commission for creation of provinces of Bahawalpur and South Punjab Provinces.

The delegation also discussed host of issues being faced by the people of southern Punjab.

The President assured the delegation that the government and the Party will continue to work for the socio- economic and political development of the people of South Punjab besides lending all out support for creation of the province of Janoobi Punjab.

The President further informed that urgent measures were being taken by the government to mitigate the energy shortages and eradicate unscheduled load shedding particularly in the South Punjab.

The delegation thanked the President for his keen interest in uplift of the people of south Punjab and reposed full confidence in the leadership of the Party and the government.
