Norwegian Ambassador Larsen visits Gujrat

Islamabad, February 19, 2015 (PPI-OT): On Monday 16 February Ambassador Leif Larsen visited Kharian, Lalamusa and Gujrat. During the visit he met Norwegians with Pakistani roots, Pakistani society, business people and senior politicians. Mr. Larsen also visited a local school in a village near Kharian. During the visit he emphasized the importance of education while listening to the eager students. He also underscored that Malala was a role model for both male and female pupils.

Furthermore Mr. Larsen met leading business people from Gujrat to discuss the possibility for commercial contacts and business between Norway and Pakistan. A meeting with senior politicians in Kaira House provided an opportunity to discuss federal and regional politics. The visit marked the Norwegian Ambassador’s first trip to Gujrat district, from where most Norwegians of Pakistani origin roots emigrated during the late 60s and 70s.
