No let up in curfew, curbs on 72nd day in IOK today

Srinagar, September 18, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, life remained crippled throughout the valley for the 72nd straight day, today, on Sunday as authorities continued to put restrictions in place to curb anti-India and pro-freedom protests and rallies in the territory.

The authorities imposed curfew in south district of Shopian ahead of a march towards the town. The authorities announced the imposition of curfew through loudspeakers at 5:30 am following which a large number of men in uniform was deployed in the town including army.

All shops, business establishments, educational institutions majority of government offices and banks were closed in the valley.

In Bandipora, hundreds of people defying restrictions, march towards Eidgah in the town. The residents of Aloosa, Onagam, Panzigam, Watapora, Kaloosa, Nowpora, Plan, Papchan and other adjoining localities assembled at Gulshan chowk and started marching towards the Eidgah.

The marchers were shouting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. Locals had called for a march to the Eidgah today. The authorities sealed all entry and exit points leading towards Bandipora district to thwart Bandipora march, call for which was issued by the joint resistance camp. Indian troops were deployed in Ajar and Kaloosa areas of the district.
