Need stressed for launch of Metro Bus service in Islamabad

Islamabad, February 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): Hundreds and thousands of employees, workers including ladies and students daily travel to Islamabad from Rawalpindi, Rawat and other adjoining areas but due to non-availability of a bus transport facility; they have to face lot of problems in commuting to Islamabad.

It is high time that a decent public transport system should be introduced in Islamabad to facilitate the commuters, said Khalid Chaudhry, Secretary Information, Traders Action Committee and Senior Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry while addressing representatives of traders.

He said it is really troublesome for elders, ladies and children to travel in wagons while students of schools and colleges also have to face problems due to lack of good transport facility. He said the absence of a comfortable public transport system in Islamabad has given rise to heavy rush of cars and other private vehicles as people have no other option except to use their own vehicles for travelling. However, the common man is badly suffering as he has no other options except to take lot of pains to commute. If this trend continued, commuters will face more serious problems in coming days.

Khalid Chaudhry welcomed the Punjab Government’s plan to launch metro bus service from Saddar Rawalpindi to Islamabad from 28th February 2014 as it would provide good transport facility to the commuters. He said Islamabad has been developed with proper planning and starting metro bus service in the federal capital would be much easier.

He appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif to consider launching a metro bus service in Islamabad as a joint venture of federal capital and the CDA. The metro bus should cover various route including Margalla Road to Secretariat, Tarnol to Pak Secretariat covering Peshawar More and Aabpara, I-11 Sabzi Mandi to Peshawar More up to Pak Secretariat. He said metro bus service would provide much sought-after relief to the commuters who have to suffer a lot due to its absence.
