Lahore, July 28, 2016 (PPI-OT):NTDC has energized 500 kV New Gakhar – Lahore Circuit-II transmission line at 1436 hours today after rehabilitation of 8 collapsed towers along with installation of Optical Fiber Ground Wire (OPGW). Tower No 37 to 44 were damaged due to heavy rains and storms on night 5-6 July 2016 about 90 kilometres away from Lahore near Hafizabad.
NTDC Engineers started the rehabilitation work of damaged pylons on Chand Raat (5th July 2016) and completed the task of Assembling, Erecting, Stringing and Energizing of 500 kV transmission line in 23 days. Which was an uphill task for NTDC staff and its engineers who worked day and night on war footing to complete it in minimum possible time in extreme weather conditions of scorching heat and humidity in slushy and mudslinging rice fields.
While working on stringing and erection of towers with cranes and tractors made the approach difficult due to heavy moon soon rains in wet fields. MD NTDC Dr. Fiaz A Chaudhry has appreciated the pace of work and timely completion of damaged towers by NTDC officials, which will ultimately help in minimizing load shedding for consumers of LESCO, GEPCO and FESCO.
