Islamabad, November 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): “The first ever national policy for Overseas Pakistanis will be announced in the last week of November, 2012”, this was stated by Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis in an International Seminar in Islamabad today.
Federal Minster for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar was pleased to announce that this policy will allocate a rightful space for the greater role of overseas Pakistanis in the process of national development and growth.
He was addressing as a Chief Guest to the Concluding Ceremony of “Potentials and Prospects of Pakistani Diaspora” arranged by Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) and Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) in which a large number of participants from other countries also participated and talked on Pakistani Diaspora.
In his speech, he further reiterated that Overseas Pakistanis are an asset of Pakistan injecting billions of dollars in Pakistani economy and they should be treated as first rated citizens like-wise they are treated in China and other countries, so this policy will be a comprehensive and integrated document and providing our country to use their expertise, experience and education for the first time instead of only using their investment and money in the process of growth and progress. Thus, besides, providing right of vote, right to contest election and reserve seats for Overseas Pakistanis will have an opportunity with a more safe and secure way with new modalities like public-private partnership.
Policy also envisages a greater role of Overseas Pakistanis in industries, SMEs and in establishing par excellence in education and other sectors. This 10-year policy will also propose more ways of exporting trained manpower abroad and at the same time within a few years of providing Overseas Pakistanis a corridor enabling them back home so that they come back to Pakistan and make their home better.
At the end of this conference, Federal Minster mixed up with participants and shared views with them regarding overseas Pakistanis and welfare services being offered to them by his Ministry and the organization, OPF.
