Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has joined forces with Pakistan’s famous singer of international following, Abrar-ul-Haq to raise funds for the flood affectees. This collaboration was made public in a press conference which was jointly conducted by the Chairman NDMA, Dr. Zafar Qadir and Abrar-ul-Haq.
The Chairman NDMA, Dr. Zafar Qadir apprised representatives of media about the current flood situation, on-going rescue & relief activities & the humanitarian alliance with Abrar. He informed that so far NDMA has received donations of US$ 140 Million for the flood affectees out of which 38.5 Million have been transferred for relief activities. “We have also provided relief items worth Rs. 7 Million in flood hit areas”, he added.
Speaking at the press conference Abrar-ul-Haq said that SAHARA Trust has start working on the project of constructing houses for 1300 flood affected families. He told media personnel that out of these 1300 houses, 600 have been sponsored by the OIC. Abrar-ul-Haq reiterated the resolve to extend every possible help for his distressed brethren.
