Lahore, January 30, 2013 (PPI-OT): Secretary General PCF, Syed Azhar Ali Shah in a press statement has informed that in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), National Cycling Camp is in progress at Lahore since January 1, 2013 where Pakistan’s renowned coaches are keenly imparting extensive training to 18 top male and female cyclists of Pakistan who will represent the country in the forthcoming South Asian Games scheduled to be held in India in March 2013. Pakistan Sports Board has been extremely supportive throughout and has extended complete facilities to PCF and the players who are training in the camp.
Mr. Shah further informed that invitation for participation in the General Congress Meeting of Asian Cycling Confederation and Asian Cycling Championship has also been received by the President PCF Mr. Munawar Baseer Ahmad. He informed that our national team will participate in this Championship which will be organized between March 5-17, 2013 at New Delhi, India and would feature in the Under-23, elite and junior categories.
National Cycling Championship for men will be organized by PCF in Lahore from February 20-24, 2013, which will be hosted by Sui Southern Gas Company that would feature teams from all member departments, four provinces and FATA, Mr. Shah informed.
It should be noted that Pakistan Cycling Federation under its President Munawar Baseer Ahmad is the only elected and legitimate apex body of cycling in the country that is duly recognized by International Cycling Union (UCI) and Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC). All other bodies making bogus claims in this regard are illegal and shall be condemned.
