NCP, Islamabad has been established on the lines of International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy to promote research in Physics and related disciplines, and to develop a science culture in the country.
Since its inception, the NCP has been organizing different national and international scientific events every year in which a large number of young Pakistani students and researchers participate and interact with internationally renowned scientists.
PSF was established in 1973 through an act of National Assembly and working under the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is a premier agency for the promotion and funding of scientific research and popularization of science in Pakistan.
It undertakes a number of science popularization activities including science caravans (mobile science exhibitions), establishment of science centers, museums, herbaria and planetaria, strengthening of the laboratories of the government high schools in rural areas, organization of science and technology fairs and expos, preparation and distribution of science posters for schools, organizing science poster, essay and quiz competitions, holding popular science lectures, donation of popular science magazines and scientific books to schools, universities and research and development organizations and teacher training workshops on inquiry based science education.
The NCP and PSF are now launching a special programme for scientific awareness among science students of high schools and degree colleges to enlighten the youngsters through interactive scientific activities involving renowned Pakistani scientists and researchers, and also to identify and select competitive Pakistani Youth as nominees for the Asian Science Camp-2013.
