Islamabad, January 07, 2016 (PPI-OT): The 13th meeting of the Standing Committee on Railways was held today at 2:30 p.m. in Constitution Room (old Committee Room No. 5), Parliament House, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA.
Mr. Ramesh Lal, Convener of the Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee on Railways presented its report on the collection/consolidation of encroached Pakistan Railways land in the country. The Standing Committee appreciated the efforts of the Sub-Committee for the steps taken by the Sub-Committee for retrieval of Pakistan Railways land from the illegal occupants. The Committee adopted the report of the Sub-Committee and decided to take follow-up from the Ministry on the recommendations of the Sub-Committee in the next meeting.
The Ministry of Railways presented the details of following cases referred to National Accountability Bureau (NAB):-
Royal Palm Golf Club, Lahore
Business Express Train
Procurement of 75 Diesel Electric Locomotives
Procurement of 69 D.E. Locomotives
Maintenance Contract of 69 D.E. Locomotives
Procurement of 175 passenger coaches
Procurement of 37310 Metric Ton 54 KG Rails
Procurement/Manufacture of 1300 High Capacity Wagons
Procurement of Pig Iron 5000 Metric Ton
Misappropriation of Rs.19.549 million at Khanpur Station
The Standing Committee was informed that all the above mentioned cases are still under the investigation of the NAB. The Committee decided to invite the representative from NAB in the next meeting for providing the latest/updated status of above referred cases.
Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Syed Muhammad Saqlain Bukhari, Mr. Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Dr. Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal, Mr. Ramesh Lal, Engr. Hamid-ul-Haq Khalil and Ms. Naseema Hafeez Panezai, MNAs attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister for Railways and senior officers of the Ministry of Railways.
