Islamabad, February 27, 2018 (PPI-OT): A meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence met today in Committee Room of Old PIPS, Parliament Lodges, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Shaikh Rohale Asghar, MNA. The Committee considered the budgetary proposals of the Ministry of Defence relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the financial year 2018-19 and approved the same unanimously. The Committee recommended that the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform include the 31 New Un-approved and 4 on-going projects estimated cost Rs. 31683.163 Million in the PSDP and also allocate the requisite funds for the on-going and new approved schemes in order to complete the development schemes in time.
The issue of Pakistan map also came under discussion that the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ and K) was shown disputed area on the map of Pakistan. In this regard, the Secretary M/o Defence informed that the issue has already been rectified and the hard and soft copy of the map of Pakistan has already been forwarded to all the Ministries/Divisions and Departments including the Foreign Missions of Pakistan abroad. Thereafter, the Committee recommended that the Prime Minister of Pakistan would be requested to issue directions to all the Ministries/Divisions and Departments to display the latest map of Pakistan on their websites.
It was also decided that the Committee would visit Karachi in March to see the Maritime Patrolling Vessels purchased by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency. In this regard the Committee recommended to the Secretary M/o Defence to arrange visit for Members of the Standing Committee on Defence to see the Maritime patrolling Vessels recently received by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency at Karachi.
The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Muhammad Akram, Ms. Surriya Asghar, Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Lt. Col (R) Ghulam Rasul Sahi, Mr. Saeed Ahmed Khan Manais, Sheikh Fayyaz ud Din, Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, Mr. Sanjay Perwani, Ms. Kishwer Zehra and Mr. Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq MNAs and Officers/Officials of the Ministry.
