National Assembly Speaker to attend Twenty First Conference of the Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers

Islamabad: National Assembly Speaker Dr. Fehmida Mirza will proceed to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, today to attend the 21st Conference of the Speaker and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) to be held from 7th to 12th January, 2012 at Port of Spain.

The Conference is being hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Parliament. The Conference of the Speaker and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) will ponder and determine the agenda and venue for organization of CSPOC, 2013, venues, dates and topics for biannual conferences of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association besides reviewing rules and other matters concerning the organization and conduct of Conferences.

The Speaker will also meet Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth Member States on sidelines of the Conference and discuss matters related to enhancement of bilateral relations between their respective parliaments.

The Conference will be attended by Speakers and Presiding Officers of Australian House of Representatives, Canadian House of Commons, British House of commons, National Assembly of Pakistan, Indian Lok Sabha and other Member countries of Commonwealth.
