Islamabad, March 14, 2013 (PPI-OT): National Accountability Bureau (NAB) under its Prevention Regime Initiatives has taken notice of the reports of massive corruption, misuse of authority, violation of rules and procedures and accumulation of assets beyond known-source of income which have been allegedly committed by the officers and officials of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). The Bureau has sought the details from PMDC by March 14, 2013 and asked the council administration to brief NAB authorities on these issues on March 20, 2013.
PMDC has been asked to brief the Bureau on these issues as well as Parameters / SOP regarding the registration of Medical Colleges in private sector, Number of Medical colleges affiliated / registered in the private sector during last 5 years.
NAB has also sought the status of the degree of MBBS or equivalent obtained by the students from foreign countries including central Asian States, Russia, China, Thailand, Bangkok, Singapore and others.
PMDC has been asked to brief NAB on the procedure to register Doctors having degrees from foreign countries. List of the Doctors registered during last 5 years having degree from the foreign countries.
Details of registrars and the members of the council of PMDC during last 10 years have also been sought in addition to the information regarding status of the court cases in Supreme Court Pakistan and cases registered with different police stations against employees of the council. The Bureau has also asked a brief on Role of PMDC as regulator / watch dog with comments of the Registrar.
