National Accountability Bureau launches anti-corruption competition for media persons

Quetta, September 21, 2015 (PPI-OT): The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched anti-corruption competition for media persons aimed at creating an environment of appreciation mechanism for quality content, sensitize the masses about the adverse effects of corruption and expose corrupt elements. The contest among media also intends to promote debate on effects and remedies of corruption.

The competition invites individuals to submit their best work exposing corruption, corrupt practices, the effect of corruption and ways to addressing these issues effectively. Entries are open to free lancers, print, electronic and Radio media persons under four categories i.e. print, electronic, radio and photo. The winner and runner up of each category would be awarded Rs 50000, and Rs. 30000 respectively.

Participants will submit their entries to a committee formed under the supervision of Quetta Press Club. Contestants will also be required to submit a copy of their work at nab.quetta@gmail.com for transparency and further perusal.

Entries will be received from 20 September to 30th of November 2015, while the winners would be awarded cash prize on 9th December, World Anti-Corruption Day. This practice would contribute to help generate discussion by critics and anti-corruption professionals.

To make the competition more transparent and inspiring, Media and Journalism department of the University of Balochistan was engaged who has nominated its faculty members for the evaluation and final assessment of the contents.

The entries submitted by the contestants would be gauged and evaluated by the Jury on indicators such as content, credibility, awareness, impact, accuracy, impartiality, adherence to ethics and laws of Journalism. Aspiring media persons could contact President Quetta Press Club for scoring more details, evaluation criteria and modus operandi of the competition.
