Islamabad, July 03, 2017 (PPI-OT):Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, chairman NAB chaired a meeting to review latest progress on the implementation of measures taken by the present management of NAB in order to further improve the performance and efficiency of NAB at NAB Headquarter. While addressing the meeting Chairman NAB said that NAB was established to eradicate corruption with iron hands by adoption Zero Tolerance Policy. NAB had chalked out a very comprehensive and Proactive Anti-Corruption Strategy and directed NAB officers to double their efforts in implementation of new initiatives taken by the present management.
NAB’s investigation officers strictly follow Code of Conduct as per law and the year 2014 is actually basically called a year of re-invigoration of NAB. He said that NAB has recovered Rs. 287 billion from corrupt and deposited in the national exchequer. He said that in a short span of 3 years during the tenure of present management of NAB, NAB performance remained excellent in the eyes of national and international organizations as NAB filed more than 100 corruption references against corrupt and put them behind the bar in line with its Enforcement Strategy. NAB has recovered Rs. 45 billion which a record achievement as compare to previous years.
He said that NAB with improved infrastructure and rationalized workload, has prescribed efficient, effective and expeditious disposal of white collar crimes cases putting a maximum limit of 10 months which is a record as compare to other Anti-Corruption Organizations. He said that NAB has established state of the art Forensic Science LAB in Islamabad which has facilities of Digital Forensics, Questioned Documents and Fingerprint Analysis. He said that NAB gives top priority to the training of its officers/Prosecutors as training is a continuous process for an efficient workforce capable of delivering the assigned tasks timely.
He said that Annual Inspection of all the Regional Bureaus of NAB for the year 2016 was conducted in January 2017 to Feb 2017 by Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI and MT). He directed CI and MT to conduct midterm review of all the regional bureaus during July 2017 on the basis of already prescribed criteria in order to know their Operational Efficiency Index in quantitative and qualitative terms in line with clearly drawn job descriptions.
He said that NAB has established its own indigenous and effective Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) catering the needs of all concerned having salient features of maintenance of data at each stage including complaint entry, complaint verification, inquiry, investigation, prosecution stage and record preservation of Regional Board Meetings and Executive Board Meetings including case brief was discussed and decided that Monitoring and Evaluation (M and E) System will be implemented forthwith with the ability to analyse data in qualitative and quantitative form having warnings and alarms system for violators.
He said that successful completion of a pilot project in NAB Rawalpindi, MES has been introduced in NAB Headquarter and all the Regional Bureaus in order to monitor real time performance of individuals as well as the bureau. The Chairman NAB, Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry appreciated the devoted efforts of all concerned and directed NAB officers/officials to conduct complaint verifications, Inquiries and Investigation strictly in accordance with rules and regulation on merit as NAB is determined to make Pakistan corruption free which will continue as eradication of corruption is our national duty.
