Naqash concerned about detainees’ health in Baramulla jail

Srinagar, May 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of the prisoners in Baramulla sub-jail, who are on hunger strike against the deliberate attempts of authorities to prolong their detention.

Muhammad Yousuf Naqash in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the prisoners’ health had deteriorated and many of them were in critical condition in hospitals. He said that the continued absence of the Public Prosecutor for last several months was obviously a ploy to prolong the detention of the prisoners who now had no option but to start hunger strike. “The worst part is that the authorities don’t bother about their plight and use every means to suppress their rights which is extremely condemnable,” he added.

Coming down heavily on Mufti Sayeed-led puppet administration, the IPP Chairman said that the current regime proved more despotic than the previous one and had befooled masses by its mischievous slogans. ”In the garb of tasteful and pro-people slogans, the Mufti-led administration is trying to accomplish everything which the previous regime couldn’t,” he maintained.

Mohammad Yousuf Naqash said that the United Nations and global human rights watchdogs should take cognisance of the matter as to why India continuously violated the UN Charter that prisoners in the disputed territories were to be treated as “prisoners of war” not criminals.

Meanwhile, in connection with the World Mother’s Day, today, Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir Chairman stated that although whole world celebrates the Day with full fervour, the mothers of this “Valley of Martyrs” are still in search of their loved ones, who have been subjected to custodial disappearance during the past twenty-six years.
