My doors open for everyone working on improvement of human rights situation in Sindh: Rehana Leghari

Karachi, September 01, 2016 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Human Rights Rehana Laghari said that her doors are open for everyone working on the improvement of human rights situation in the province. This, she said while talking to a 9-member delegation of various NGOs at her office on Thursday.

Delegation included Provincial Coordinator Democracy Reporter International Nagma Iqtadar, Pakistan Hindu Council Women Wing President Mangla Sharma, Executive Director Now Communities Farhat Parveen, Member WAF Commission Human for Rights Nuzhat Shireen, Social Activist of Peace Builder Youth Group Avinash Sharma , Associate PILAR Abida Ali, Democracy Reporting International’s Zahida Farooq and others.

HR Special Assistant informed delegation that Sindh Government was taking maximum measures to improve awareness among the masses regarding their rights. She said that fifteen member “Provincial Task Force on Human Rights” under her Chairmanship has been established for prompt implementation of the National Action Plan to improve human rights situation in the province.

She further informed that all important departments of Sindh government including Education, Health, Minority, Law, Finance, Home, Labour, Information and others included in the task force to strengthen the coordination and added that besides, two members of Sindh Assembly also included in the task force.

She said that 6 points have been included in national action plan to protect and promote human rights which include Policy and Legal Reforms, Implementing key Human Rights Priorities , Cross Cutting Interventions Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, International/ UN Treaty Implementation, Institutional Intervention and Implementation and Monitoring Mechanisms.

She further informed delegations that Directorate of Human Rights working in Karachi while 6 district offices were also working in Hyderabad, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur, Ghotki and Jacobabad. She assured her full cooperation and urged upon delegation to come forward to work together for the betterment of society. On the occasion, Farha Parveen, Avinash Sharma, Zahid Farooq, Mangla Sharma, Abida Ali and Nuzhat Shireen spoke on the child labour, minority community’s issue, women, trade union, removing ban on student union and presented their suggestion.
