Karachi, January 10, 2013 (PPI-OT): During his visit to Hub Pumping Station, Managing Director Karachi Water & Sewerage Board had directed Chief Engineer Electrical & Mechanical to improve the performance of all KW&SB pumping stations, said the spokesperson.
Deputy Managing Director Technical Services, Chief Engineer Bulk, Chief Engineer Water Trunks Main, Deputy Chief Engineers Electrical & Mechanical Aazam Khan and Manzoor Yameen Superintendent Engineer Bulk and other concerned officers were also present on this occasion.
Briefing M.D KW&SB Misbahuddin Farid about the Grid Engineer Proposal at the Hub Pumping Station Superintendent Engineer said that this installation of this New Grid Station would not only help KW&SB improve the water supply during the summers by eliminating electricity disruptions. This proposed Grid Station would cost about 100 million rupees.
During the visit M.D KW&SB was informed that Engineers and Technical Staff of KW&SB has repaired a 28 year old generator and it could now be used for overcoming the electric load shedding. The said generator broke down shortly after installation and despite many repair efforts it was not in a usable condition. However, Engineers of KW&SB with the help of a local contractor repaired this generator at a cost of 4 million rupees.
M.D KW&SB approved the New Grid Station for Hub Pumping Station. He praised the efforts of Engineers and workers announcing a bonus of One Month’s Basic pay. He hoped that the engineers and technical staff would continue to keep up the good work in order to ensure swift provision of water supply to the citizens of Karachi.
Later on, M.D KW&SB inspected the New Rising Main and expressed his distress over the poor progress of the New Rising Main Interconnection. He directed the Engineers to complete the Interconnection within one month so that the citizens may get the additional water.
He said that, a 2.2 kilometre long 66 inch diameter line was laid out in 2008 on the directions of Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan. 98% of the work has been completed already however, the interconnection is still pending. He issued strict orders to complete the 2% work at the earliest.
M.D KW&SB visited Hub Reservoir and other installation directing all the concerned officers to ensure swift provision of water and keep the motors, pumps and generators up to date so that the citizens of Karachi get an un-disrupted water supply.
