Srinagar, April 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed serious concern over the arrest of Hurriyet activists and workers by the authorities.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is currently under house arrest, in a statement said that instead of treating them as political prisoners, the authorities behaved as they were criminals and imprisoned them in jails along with the people already detained for petty social offences.
The Mirwaiz termed this as a political vendetta, adding by doing this the authorities had trespassed all the moral and political norms. He said there is possibility that this uncalled for action could bear serious repercussions over the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir.
The APHC Chairman said that Hurriyet was the genuine and accepted representative body of the Kashmiris. He said that by keeping the Hurriyet leadership devoid of their rights as political prisoners showed that the authorities had gone politically bankrupt.
The Mirwaiz said that APHC leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza was arrested during the pre-dawn raid by the police and was kept in lock up along with petty criminals
Meanwhile, once again, APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest by the authorities after a gap of just four days. He had planned to visit the house of martyr Muhammad Afzal Guru in Sopore on Monday to offer his condolences to s the bereaved family.
The spokesman termed the restrictions on the political activities of Mirwaiz as frustration on part of the authorities.
