Srinagar, July 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, condemning the naked aggression unleashed by Indian troops and police personnel in occupied Kashmir has said that the use of firepower against the peaceful protesters is a clear case of state terrorism.
The APHC Chairman addressing a gathering at Mahraj Gunj in Srinagar pointed out that the police and troops were misusing the special powers granted to them by the authorities. The Mirwaiz stated that target killing of youth, blasting of houses, use of force on protesters, arbitrary arrests and imposition of curfews were some of the Israeli-type tactics being used by India in Kashmir.
APHC leader Zafar Akbar Butt along with a delegation visited the residence of teenager, Suhail Ahmad, at Mishipora in Kulgam and expressed solidarity with the family over his recent killing by Indian troops. Later, he led a procession from the residence of the martyred youth to the graveyard. Pro-freedom and anti-India slogans were raised, on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the forum patronized by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement described the arrest of over 50 youth during police crackdowns in Kulgam and Islamabad as the worst form of state terrorism. The forum reiterated its appeal for observing the last Friday of holy month of Ramadan as Youm-e-Quds to express solidarity with Palestinian brethren facing Israeli aggression in Gaza.
The Chairperson of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen, Zamruda Habib, in a statement demanded release of all illegally detained Kashmiri youth before Eid-ul-Fitr so that they could celebrate the auspicious occasion with their families. Police said that it had recovered body of an unarmed man, killed in firing by Indian troops in Hiranagar area Kathua district.
