Srinagar, March 17, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, due to his continued house arrest could not attend the India Today Conclave held in New Delhi.
The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was invited to attend the event and speak on the ongoing political situation in occupied Kashmir, human rights violations and present the Hurriyet’s point of view on the Kashmir dispute on Saturday. However, the government by putting restrictions on his activities did not allow the Mirwaiz to participate in the conclave, he added.
The spokesman termed the detention of youth and Hurriyet leaders, house arrest of Mirwaiz and other leaders and use of brute force on peaceful protesters as dictatorial policies. He said that such tactics could not deter the Kashmiris from continuing their ongoing liberation struggle.
