Srinagar, July 21, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people has criticized the double standards of the world community towards the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.
Addressing over telephone a roundtable conference organized by Pakistan Nazriyati Council and chief editor of ‘Pakistan Observer’ in Islamabad, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said, “The conference would send a clear message to Israel that Palestinians are not alone in their fight against the aggression and barbarism.”Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan, Waleed Abu Ali and other top notches of Pakistani society and government participated in the conference.
Mirwaiz said, “Kashmir being an oppressed nation and a part of Islamic ummah has full sympathy and solidarity with the Palestinian people and their cause.” He said, “Muslims have emotional attachment with Palestine because it houses one of the most sacred places of Muslims, Bait-ul-Muqdas.”
Lamenting at the lack of consensus on Palestine Mirwaiz said, “It is unfortunate that 1.5 billion Muslims and 56 Muslim countries cannot hammer out a consensus to formulate a policy regarding the solution of the Palestinian cause.”
“World community has always exhibited double standards when it comes to Kashmir and Palestine. Kashmir and Palestine are issues of same nature and the main sources of instability and tension in South Asia and Middle East,” he added.
“People of both these nations are subjected to oppression and torture and world has turned a blind eye towards these issues thus reflecting the double standards of global world,” he told the gathering.
