Srinagar, August 18, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has condemned the puppet authorities for imposing ban on peaceful political activities in the territory.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in an interview in Srinagar said that the Hurriyet leadership had called for a peaceful march towards the UN office in Srinagar on Wednesday to draw attention of the international community especially the UN towards the civilian killings in the Kashmir Valley. However, he deplored that the puppet authorities resorted to stringent measures to prevent the march.
Indian police had arrested the Mirwaiz when he defied house detention, came out of his residence and tried to march towards the UN office.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that the UN was duty-bound to take up the Kashmir dispute, which was pending resolution for the past seven decades, and play its role in stopping the murder of unarmed Kashmiris and innocent children at the hands of Indian forces in the occupied territory.
He termed the present situation in occupied Kashmir as serious and explosive and said that that if the UN did not take notice and take steps towards settlement of the lingering dispute it would have serious repercussions in the region.
Meanwhile, the forum spokesman in a statement strongly denounced the reign of terror let loose by Indian police and troops across the occupied territory. He also condemned the police for raiding the office of the forum at Rajbagh in Srinagar, harassing the staff and disconnecting the communications lines.
