Mirwaiz denounces curfew, restrictions on Modi’s IOK visit

Srinagar, July 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has denounced the puppet authorities for not allowing people to offer Juma prayers in Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid on first Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.The authorities had imposed curfew and strict restrictions in the city on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister, Narender Modi’s visit to the territory.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that preventing people from offering congregational prayers in Srinagar Jamia Mosque was the worst kind of religious and human rights violation.

He said that the way the territory was converted into a military garrison on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, Indian leadership should realize the ground situation.

The APHC Chairman said that unresolved Kashmir dispute was a permanent threat to the peace of entire South Asia and its amicable settlement in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people could bring permanent peace and prosperity in the whole region. He said that it was not the economic or border issue but the disputed territory pending with the United Nation for last several decades.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that peace and tranquility in the South Asian region linked to settlement of Kashmir dispute and urged India and the international community to take steps for resolution of Kashmir dispute which was also in the interest of India and Pakistan.
