Islamabad, November 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): A delegation of fourteen minority parliamentarians led by Mr. Kamran Michael, Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping held a meeting with the Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf to discuss various issues pertaining to minorities’ community throughout the country.
The meeting decided that the development funds for minorities’ parliamentarians would be equally distributed among them.
The meeting decided to enhance the educational scholarships for students of minorities across the country and extended the scope of awarding scholarship even to the students of private educational institutions which would be distributed through minority parliamentarians.
Funds for scholar ship shall also be distributed equally among the minority parliamentarians who would recommend scholar ship for students of his constituency out of his allocated funds.
The meeting was informed by the honourable parliamentarian that the scope of scholarship is presently limited to minority students studying in government institutions, which would be extended to private educational institutions as well and will be distributed through minority parliamentarians.
The meeting also decided to recommend to Ministry of Finance, for financial assistance of Rs.500,000/- to each affected family of Peshawar Church blast. The meeting decided to convene five seminars on Interfaith Harmony in provincial capitals including Islamabad every year.
