Ministry issues 55 Allotment Letters today as per General Waiting List

Islamabad, April 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): Ministry of Housing and Works has issued 55 allotment letters of government owned housing units to registered government employees of General Waiting List (GWL) today.

While chairing today’s ceremony, Minister of State for Housing and Works Barrister Usman Ibrahim said “This is a very commendable step of the incumbent leadership that a transparent and fair system has been adopted and out of 19000 people, another list has been prepared of 55 people whose turn on GWL has got matured”.

The breakdown of allotments as per their categories is such as; Cat I 6 houses, Cat II 3 houses, Cat III 10 houses, Cat IV 7 houses, Cat V 3 houses, A type 5 houses, B type 6 houses, C type 5 houses, D type 5 houses, E type 2 houses and G type 3 houses.

The Minister added “we are committed to follow the directions of Superior Court and determine not to violate it in any case by issuing any out of turn allotment”. As the Supreme Court banned Rule 29 (A) of Accommodation Allocation Rules 2002 in 2011 which was being applied by previous governments for out of turn allotments or fake hardship cases. After coming into power, the incumbent Minister also banned Rule 12 –allows the change and mutual exchange of government houses – to curtail the issue of fake allotments. Moreover, the Minister reiterated that it will be ensured that all allotttes will get possession of their houses very soon.

The Minister said that N-League has come into power with a vision to maintain meritocracy in every department because it will lead to a corruption free system and would abridge the trust deficit between public and government.

The Minister stated that a list of 55 allotttees had been issued in January and allotment as per GWL is a continuous process so the ministry will leave no stone unturned to issue such a regular list of deserved allottees every month. The Minister added that no illegal or out of turn allotment has been made during the last 9 months of the present government. A lot of things have been streamlined with the objective that no corrupt element would be entertained and the team is fully committed to address people’s grievances.

The meeting was attended by Seerat Asghar, Secretary Housing and Works Tariq Bakhshi Joint Secretary Housing and Works, Ms. Khalida Mansor (MNA, National Assembly Standing Committee), Ms. Tahira Aurangzeb (MNA, National Assembly Standing Committee), allottees and other senior members of the Ministry.
