Islamabad, November 17, 2012 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali while speaking to scientists, industrialists and entrepreneurs during two day exhibition on “Science and Technology” arranged by PCSIR Laboratories Complex Peshawar on Saturday said that investment in science and technology is the gateway to socio-economic development of a country.
He said that in this geo-technological world and era of industrialization, there is an imperative need to facilitate transfer of new technologies and inventions of the laboratories to the end users. He said that our efforts of industrial development can only be realized if the scientists/researchers/ engineers/industrialists and all the stakeholders of the country work jointly and in integrated manner. He also announced 25 scholarships for FATA KPK students in the field of Science and Technology.
The Inaugural Ceremony of the exhibition was also attended by Dr. Arbab Alamgir, Federal Minister for Communication.
In his welcome address, Dr. Shoukat Parvez, Chairman PCSIR thanked Federal Minister for Science and Technology and all the eminent participants for their gracious presence in the exhibition. He threw light on the role of PCSIR in the promotion of Science and Technology in the country and felt the greater need of promoting joint venture of Research Laboratories and public private sectors for the promotion of strong industrial base in the country.
In his key note address Engr. Arbab Liaqat Ali, Director General, PCSIR Labs. Complex Peshawar highlighted the importance of Science and Technology in attaining socio economic prosperity in the country and also discussed the initiatives taken by the management of PCSIR in establishing strong liaison between R and D organization and public private sector for stable industrialization in the country.
Also, Dr. Shah Alam Khan, Director (P and D) fervently thanked Governor Federal Minster for Science and Technology, Chairman PCSIR and all the distinguished guests for their gracious presence in the exhibition.
In the end, Barrister Masood Kausar, Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa made a brief visit to this complex and inaugurated the exhibition. He was received by both the Federal Ministers for Science and Technology and Communication. He also visited the stalls and appreciated the products displayed by various S and T organizations.
