Islamabad, September 21, 2015 (PPI-OT):Minister of state for National Health Services Regulation and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar chaired a high level meeting of Drug Regularity Authority of Pakistan. Minister expressed her commitment for leaving no stone unturned for eradication of the menace of spurious falsified substandard and counterfeit drugs from the country in order to safeguard the public.
She emphasized the role of Drap in this regard to be made more effective. The high power task force at Federal level will soon be established in coordination with province and law enforcement agencies to make it comprehensive and effective way.
She said in addition learning from international experiences be implied too to gain momentum. She appreciated efforts by CEO Drap for rolling out one of the effective tool of the global unique identification code system applying through bar code system where even a patient can confirm the authenticity and origin of the products before making its purchase.
She advised the drug rules be amended and prohibitions and penalties be made more strong to award exemplary punishments. On other hand the accountability and transparency be ensured in the drap too so law abiding manufacturers providing quality medicine for needy patients should not be harassed
Moreover she directed the capacity building of the drap should be given top priority and recruitment process be completed at earliest. In this regard that has been effectively addressed now. Secretary NHSRC m Ayub sheikh updated the status of process and detailed various as well.
Regarding completion of the up gradation work at TFC complex.
She emphasized the transfer various divisions of drap as soon as possible and she should be provided updates on daily basis this would make a better coordination and management under one roof. Minister was briefed by CEO on skill development of drap staff in both management and technical skills and effective results oriented performance and explain various training program conducted through the support of who USD,USA.
Minister appreciated the contribution of international agencies for upgrading drap on international level which will improve the GMP quality and safety of drugs in Pakistan. Minister further directed for taking extraordinary efforts for boosting Pharma export as this is her governments priority and advised Drap to coordinate with stake holders and provide their full support to exports and remove difficulties and burecratic hurdles in process.
